BMW i8 Concept Spyder

BMW has released images and information about its i8 Concept Spyder, which follows on from the i3 and i8 concepts.
This open-top two-seater car features upwards-swiveling doors that pivot forwards around the A-pillars, a transparent glass panel at the rear and is based around the LifeDrive architecture, which fusing independent units together using a lightweight modular construction. A two-section roof is planned for less favorable conditions.
The i8 Concept Spyder has a shorter wheelbase and length than the coupe version of the original i8 Concept and features solid doors – rather than transparent doors. This, along with a more production-viable interior suggest that the i8 is now very close to reaching the market.
Aerodynamic elements include elements include front spoiler lips, AirCurtains, aeroflaps and a rear diffuser, helping to increase the car's efficiency.
The headlamps with laser light technology follow the BMW i range's U-shaped design template while a transparent V-shape opens out towards the windscreen while the transparent rear deck panel displays two electric scooters as a rather quirky addition to the package.
The interior of the Spyder comprises of plastic, carbon and leather with a color scheme of off-white and orange. The cockpit and center console has changed slightly from the Coupe, with two large displays making up the interface between the passengers, the car and its surroundings.
The central information display shows the driver the status of the hybrid system, navigation and provides the means for the driver to control the multiple connectivity functions. Another display shows typical information such as the car's speed, while a third display shows which automatic climate control setting is in use.

2013 Lexus LS 460 Luxury Sedans

With high-style photography, chic furniture and fun neon flair as its background, the new 2013 LS Luxury sedans had their world debut at the 'Lexus Laws of Attraction' exhibit in San Francisco tonight.  The event featured more than 500 invited guests from the San Francisco arts and design community who shared their thoughts via #Lexus Attracts on twitter.
The 2013 LS line-up includes the LS 460, LS 460L, LS 600hL hybrid, and the first-ever LS 460 F SPORT. LS 460 and LS 460L are available in RWD and AWD. The LS Hybrid is available wîth a full-time AWD system.
The all-new LS 460 F SPORT combines a more aggressive exterior wîth a unique sport interior featuring F SPORT seats wîth larger bolsters, a leather-wrapped §teering wheel wîth paddle shifters and genuine aluminum trim. With a sport tuned air suspension that has been lowered 0.4 inches, a Torsen® limited slip rear differential (RWD model), Brembo six-piston caliper brakes, and 19' forged wheels wîth summer or all-season tires, the LS F SPORT promises to be the most engaging LS ever.

The entire 2013 LS lineup is refined wîth dynamic, fresh styling that reflects the bold new face of Lexus. The aggressive spindle grille gives the new LS a greater road presence and stronger brand identity while heralding a significant improvement in driving dynamics, responsiveness and handling.

Lexus' new design philosophy was the inspiration for the 'Lexus Laws of Attraction' exhibit, which included exclusive photographs by world-renowned fashion photographer Ellen von Únwerth that feature prominent couples wîth the Lexus flagship vehicle.

The models for the photo shoot depict some of Hollywood and the design community's most inspiring partners, including actor Jason Schwartzman and Art & Design Director of TENOVERSIX boutique Brady Cunningham, model/actress Jaime King and film director Kyle Newman, model/actress Devon Aoki and financier James Bailey, along wîth writer and Barneys New York Creative Ambassador Simon Doonan and designer Jonathan Adler – wîth the latter two also serving as the exhibition's creative directors. The exhibition also included the work of photographers Victor Demarchelier, Bronques, and a collection of leading street style photographers from all over the world.

2013 BMW X1

Opinions found at the Autoblog table of most auto show press rooms are usually in concert, but every once in a while, we fail to come to a consensus. Despite Previous Doubts, Mazda Bringing Diesels To The U.S. When it comes to increasing fuel economy across a product range, automakers currently have a few options. First, they can make vehicles lighter and engines more efficient, which will net immediate gains with only modest development costs.
 The next step involves either hybridization or the addition of diesel offerings throughout the product line, but both add cost (and potentially, complexity). In March of 2009, Mazda jumped on the clean diesel bandwagon, favoring it for it’s lower cost and high reliability.
 Weeks later, the automaker backpedaled, saying that it would embrace hybrids and electric cars in the coming years, instead of focusing exclusively on diesels and more fuel efficient gasoline vehicles.
 In the years since, Mazda has invested a significant amount of money on its SkyActiv technologies, which extend to engines (both gas and diesel), transmissions and platforms. The net result is lighter vehicles, with greater fuel efficiency, that still retain the fun-to-drive factor that Mazda has always marketed.
 Now comes word from Automotive News (subscription required) that Mazda is back to emphasizing the benefits of clean diesel. Mazda North America CEO Jim O’Sullivan called diesel “a good differentiator,” that would further Mazda’s reputation for “always doing something a little different.”
