Audi today loosed a handful of new images of the upcoming 2012 Audi S8. Revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, the S8 combines the sleek, understated looks of the A8 with a hint of aggression and a whole lot of speed.
The latest images show us some new views of the car, including a good look at the S8's interior, which is just as attractive as the outside. Detail shots of the tachometer and door sill show S8 badging inside in addition to out.
Powered by a twin-turbo V-8 engine good for 520 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, the S8 is sure to be a riot to drive, though we'll have to hold our final judgment until we get the chance to put one on track.

Mitsubishi Eclipse News

Production of the iconic Japanese sports coupe, the Mitsubishi Eclipse, has officially ended. Built at its former home in Normal, Illinois, the last Eclipse precedes a 22 year history that has reached cult status. Even after nearly one million units were sold, Mitusbishi still followed through with its plan to consolidate its vehicle line up to enter a new era and new brand image. That image, apparently, did not have room for one of their most memorable cars.
To give the last Eclipse a proper send off, Mitusbishi gave the specially equipped model to Mecum Auctions so it could be bid on. The 2012 Kalapana Black was “put together” by Eclipse fans on Mitsubishi’s Facebook page. The only fourth generation model to be equipped with both the commemorative SE package and the 265 horsepower 3.8 liter V6, the last Eclipse features unique, gun-metal 18 inch wheels and special graphics.
Fully loaded with a Rockford Fosgate stereo, rear view camera, sunroof and HID headlamps, the Mitsubishi will be auctioned off at the St. Charles Illinois Auction. Bidding will begin September 17 with no reservation and a $15 entry fee. Únveiled at Saab's assembly plant in Trollhättan as part of a day of celebration, the Independence Edition features a unique, Amber Orange metallic paint finish. It is based on top-of-the-line Griffin Aero specification and includes a limited edition number etched into the rear side windows.

Land Rover has announced a series of updates for the 2012 Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport.
First and foremost, the 3.0-liter SDV6 diesel engine has been tuned to produce 256 PS (188 kW / 252 hp) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 11 PS (8 kW / 11 hp). It is connected to a new eight-speed automatic transmission, with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and a Jaguar-inspired rotary gear-selector, which enables both models to have reduced CO2 emissions of 230 g/km.
Besides the added performance, the SUVs feature restyled wheels, an optional 17-speaker 825W Harmon Kardon audio system and updated infotainment systems with "Say What You See" voice control. The Discovery 4 also gains Hill Start Assist and Gradient Acceleration Control, while the Range Rover Sport boasts a new power-operated tailgate and a seven-inch touchscreen display with Dual View technology.

Subaru obliterates Isle of Man lap record with stock WRX STI. We talk about the Nürburgring a lot, but perhaps it's time we start devoting more ink to the Isle of Man. Located between Great Britain and Ireland, the tiny bit of green plays host to one of the most impressive displays of speed on the planet.
The annual Isle of Man TT plays out on a 37.8-mile course made up of public roads, which are closed down during race days. It's run by motorcyclists, and crazy sonsofbitches skilled pilots can complete the loop in under 18 minutes. Curious how long it would take an automobile to run the same course? Back in 1990, driver Tony Pond was curious as well, and he pushed a Rover 827 Vitesse around the island in 21 minutes, becoming the first driver to average 100 miles per hour in a car on the course.
Subaru decided to have a go at that record, and sent a WRX STI sedan and driver Mark Higgins to the Isle of Man. The car is a stock STI, with the exception of a roll-cage, race harness, fire extinguisher and adjusted springs and dampers to handle the various bumps found on the public roadway. How'd Higgins do? He smashed Pond's record by two minutes, with a time of 19:56.7 and an average speed of 113 miles per hour. Higgins stated, "Setting the record was both the most exhilarating and the most frightening thing I have ever done."
